GLASS PLATE NEGATIVES

Blog post 1, ah where do I even start? I am a third year photography student obsessed with archives and memory, so as soon as I saw 7 boxes of glass plate negatives in my boyfriends music room I knew that I would use them at some point in my degree. My current ongoing project ‘Independent Study’ gives me the opportunity to create my own brief and focus on the area of photography that I am most interested in, this being archives. This collection could be full of old dusty photographs or it could hold amazing forgotten imagery, either way I am so intrigued to see what I come across. Over the next 12 weeks I will be documenting my findings and the progress of this exciting project. I may not find the next Vivian Maier, but I am determined to bring these photographs back to life, they have spent way too much time in a box gathering dust. It’s now time to give them justice.
